Marco Anedda’s flair for wood carving started from a
very early age thanks to his father, a skilful
carpenter.
In 1999 he discovered the world of violin makers.
Once he graduated from high school he enroled at the
school of violin makers of Gubbio, Perugia.
In 2002, he attended a specialized course on the
construction of stringed instruments taught by Mr
Paolo Sorgentone and Mr Michele Mecatti. During
2003-2004 he worked in their workshops . This experience
turned out to be significant as it allowed him not only
to improve his construction strategies but also to learn
the restoration techniques and to come into contact with
many instruments of important authors of the past.
In 2004 he attended a course taught by Mr.
Zigmuntowicz
where he
learnt the construction of the copies of ancient
instruments.
At present he works in Monterchi (Ar) in his own
workshop where he deals with the construction of new
instruments (violins, violas, violoncellos), and the setup.
He is a member of the Tuscan violin makers association
(ALT). This institution promotes Tuscan violin craftsmen
in the world and participates in the main exhibitions of
this sector.
